Open Mic and En Masse GO VIRTUAL
Participate in Open Mic!
Although our convention is different this year, we want to capture the energy and enthusiasm that characterize the popular Open Mic experience. We are seeking pre-recorded performances from members for the Saturday Open Mic Concert and for convention attendees to watch OnDemand. Video submissions don’t have to be new, group or individual videos are welcome, and you may submit multiple videos.
If you plan to submit a video for Open Mic, submit your intent by Friday Sunday, October 16 18. Instructions are in the latest e-newsletter or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Music is available for Virtual En Masse Orchestra
Register for the convention to access the music and start practicing! The Virtual En Masse Orchestra will perform Heavens On Earth, composed in three movements (New Harmony, Equity, Shakertown) by John Goodin.
En Masse players will rehearse at home using a video recording by the section leaders. There will be a sectional during the convention. For the En Masse performance, we will play along from home with section leaders under the baton of conductor Dr. Jim Bates.
Composite Video of En Masse Performance
Attendees of this year’s Convention have a unique opportunity to participate in a virtual En Masse collaborative experience. In the week after the convention, you’ll film yourself at home playing your parts, while listening to the section leaders’ joint recording. All the parts will be then combined into a master video of everybody playing together, available around the end of the year, produced by Seattle Mandolin Orchestra’s Jeff Brumley.
