International Workers’ Order Children’s Orchestra circa 1942
Judy Friedman submitted this photograph of her mother and grandfather in the International Workers’ Order Children’s Orchestra, circa 1942. Her mother, Berverly Spivack, is in the ceter of the last row with two bows in her hair. Her grandfather, Frank Spivack, standing on the left, was one of the conductors. Thomas Sokoloff, standing on the right, was the primary conductor. The orchestra practiced in the Bronx, New York.
