Victor Kioulaphides, CMSA 2017 Composer-in-Residence
The Classical Mandolin Society of America is pleased to host Victor Kioulaphides as the composer-in-residence for the 2017 convention October 25-29 in Milwaukee.
At the Saturday evening concert, the convention’s 150+ member En Masse Orchestra will perform music composed by Victor. Convention attendees get to know the composer, and CMSA supports composition of music for mandolin orchestras.
Victor was born in Athens, Greece and in 1979 moved to New York, where he studied double bass and composition at The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music. He is currently a faculty member at the Lucy Moses School at the Kaufman Music Center and was formerly a faculty member at the Brooklyn Conservatory. Victor’s compositions are widely published and have been performed around the world. View the Athenian Mandolinata performing Sinfonia a pizzico movement from Concerto per orchestra a pizzico.
